There came a time when I found out,

what happiness was all about.

I knew I'd suffered in the past,

but needed love I knew would last.

I saw her eyes, I heard her voice,

I held her near and made the choice,

to let my heart go one more time,

and try to make this new love mine.

But where would I find someone who

felt the same way as I do.

I needed someone right this time,

someone whose feelings were as mine.

So I tried and tried to see,

if she'd give in and marry me.

Although her heart was fearful still,

eventually she said "I will".

And so I searched and wondered where,

I'd find the one who'd really care.

And then one day a letter came,

from someone Marivic by name.

Though hesitation in her head,

at Quezon City Hall we wed.

From that day on we're man & wife,

to start our happy, newfound life.

And in the words she wrote I saw,

someone different than before.

Her words from far across the sea,

were reaching deep inside of me.

Looking back now as I do,

I see that I found someone who

has made my life seem more worthwhile

and given me reason to smile.

I could see she's someone who

needed loving as I do.

But she'd been hurt and was afraid,

and for years alone she'd stayed.

I know that she feels the same way,

though, fearful still, she just won't say.

So I hope some day she'll see

no one will love her more than me.

While she wanted love, like me,

a fear inside her heart I'd see.

So she put her need for love,

in the hands of God above.

When she sees my love is true

and knows I love her as I do,

then hand in hand I know we'll be,

together for eternity.

I could see she was so sweet.

Decided then that we should meet.

So packed my bags & on the plane,

and to the Philippines I came.
